Scientific Program Highlights |

Inherited Retinal Degenerative Diseases
-
The diagnosis and management of the patient (and family) with inherited retinal dystrophy is complex. It requires a sophisticated skill set, and is often undertaken by an interactive team of specialists. Minimum requirements are probably a clinician with extensive experience, an imaging expert, a specialist electrophysiologist, and a genetics/molecular biology expert. This symposium will focus not only on those aspects of diagnosis and evaluation, but will also address some of the therapeutic interventions now or soon to be available.
Central Serous Chorioretinopathy
-
Central serous chorioretinopathy (CSC), initially described as a benign condition, may evolve towards a severe and chronic disease that may lead to permanent visual loss. This session will explore a large broad of unsolved problems, for example, the role of choroid in the occurrence of the condition, the relations with polypoidal choroidal vasculopathy, the best multimodal imaging, the diagnosis challenge of atypical forms, and therapeutic aspects, with hesitations between medical therapy, laser, PDT and other attempts.
Intraocular Tamponade in the 21st Century
What’s New in Medical Retina
-
This symposium will review the recent advances in the field of medical retina. It covers age-related macular degeneration (atrophic and neovascular), PCV, central serous chorioretinopathy, retinal vein occlusion and diabetic retinopathy. The audience will get updated knowledge of these disorders.
Mystery Cases of Macular Surgery
My Best Medical Cases
-
Have you encountered any problems that cannot be solved in the diagnosis and treatment of medical retinal diseases? Are there any valuable experiences gained from proper diagnosis and treatment? As one of the highlights of APVRS 2019, “My Best Medical Cases” session will bring about a number of interesting medical cases. Nine experienced and well-known retinal specialists will share their analysis and valuable experience in the diagnosis and treatment of some challenging medical retinal diseases.
