Diabetic
Retinopathy
(DR)
-
Treatment: The
treatment
options for
various
manifestations
of DR have
changed
dramatically
over the
last decade
with the
advent of
new imaging,
medical, and
surgical
techniques.
This
symposium
will
highlight
recent
clinically
relevant
advances in
the
management
of diabetic
macular
edema and
proliferative
DR,
including
specific
challenges
of
non-clearing
vitreous
hemorrhage,
traction
retinal
detachment,
and
management
during
pregnancy,
using both
didactic and
case
presentations.
-
Epidemiology,
Screening,
and
Prevention:
This session
will cover
major
developments
in
epidemiology,
risk factors
and
screening
for DR,
including
updates and
examples of
national
screening
programs in
different
countries in
Asia. DR
screening by
fundus
photography,
usually
within a
tele-ophthalmology
framework,
and use of
artificial
intelligence
(AI)
algorithms
will be also
presented.
The
symposium
will cover
progress
made and
challenges
that remain
in our
continuing
battle with
DR.
Age-related
Macular
Degeneration
(AMD)
-
In this
symposium,
speakers
from around
the world
will present
on the
latest
development
in the
pathogenesis
and
treatment of
neovascular
AMD,
including
new
pharmacologic
agents,
long-term
result of
the IVAN
study, gut
metagenome
and recent
advances in
imaging of
AMD.
The Impact
of Systemic
Medications
on Retinal
Function
-
This
symposium
will provide
a thorough
review of
systemic
medications
that are
capable of
causing
various
patterns of
retinal
toxicity.
Included
will be
medications
that disrupt
the retinal
pigment
epithelium
or cause
retinal
vascular
occlusion,
cystoid
macular
edema/retinal
edema,
crystalline
deposition,
uveitis and
miscellaneous
subjective
visual
symptoms.
The
mechanism of
action will
be discussed
when known,
along with
prevention
and
treatment.
Newer
entities,
such as
pentosane,
MEK
inhibitors
and
checkpoint
inhibitors,
will also be
explored.
Pediatric
Retina:
Treatment
-
Led by the
highly
experienced
international
faculty,
this
symposium
will explore
the latest
management
approaches
for a range
of pediatric
vitreoretinal
conditions,
including
ROP, FEVR,
giant
retinal tear
related
retinal
detachment
and optic
disc
anomalies.
The topical
area of
neuro-development
in ROP
following
anti-VEGF
treatment
will also be
discussed.

The Asia-Pacific Vitreo-retina Society (APVRS) is pleased to join hand with the Chinese Vitreo-retina Society (CVRS) to co-host the 13th APVRS Congress cum Retina China 2020. Big thanks to CVRS for their support.
Consisting of more than 5,000 vitreo-retinal specialists, CVRS provides an excellent platform for idea exchange, new information sharing, as well as skills and knowledge integration of ophthalmologists in the vitreo-retinal field. Its annual meeting, Retina China, is one of the most important ophthalmological conferences in China. More than 4000 participants from China and overseas gather to share the latest breakthroughs in vision research, exchange innovative scientific ideas and present interesting clinical cases. |
